Discover the Fair News Project Results

As the Fair News project comes to the end (for now!), we are excited to share our project results. These are designed to introduce the theory and practice of Fair News, provide a transferable model for our innovation pathways in Theory of Knowledge, and offer a hands-on toolkit for the creation and dissemination of Fair News.

The results are available for download here.

PR1: Formative report on the creation and development of educational communities using methodologies of Theory of Knowledge and Media and Information Literacy

Our project began in response to the urgent need for enhanced media literacy skills in an increasingly complex digital landscape beset by ‘fake news’. Our first project result describes the theoretical and methodological background to the Fair News approach alongside research into the needs and priorities of high school students in Europe.

PR2: Framework for innovation pathways in the use of Theory of Knowledge among high school students

Fair News is founded on the belief that enhanced critical thinking is crucial for young people to navigate the media landscape and enhance their understanding of how knowledge is created and shared. Our second project result presents an 8-module course for high school students designed to build their abilities to analyse and evaluate news and media information, based on the principles of Theory of Knowledge.

PR3: Resources for the creation and dissemination of Fair News

Fair News aims to support young people to become not only critical readers of ‘fake news’, but creator of ‘fair news’ – able to understand the workings of contemporary media and make their own voices heard as the new generation of digital citizens. Our Fair News Guide offers resources and workshops for the development of media and information literacy in students and tips for the creation of their own stories, in traditional and digital media.

The Fair Newspaper, a digital newspaper by and for young people, showcases the creations made by students as part of the Fair News Project.

As our partnership shares the Fair News approach in their countries and across Europe, we look forward to the future of Fair News – stay in touch!
